About roles in User Management
User Management shows which roles are assigned to a specific user account. The roles are sorted by application and are self-explanatory. If a role is assigned to a user, the user has permission to use the application or perform the function described.
If you have the May add and edit (other) users role, note the information in the following table when you create a user account or edit the roles for a user.
Role |
Description |
May add and edit (other) users |
Allows you to create new users and edit the roles for each user. You cannot change your own roles or other users' roles unless your account has this role. Only two users at a site are allowed to have this role at the same time. If two users have this role, either user can reset or disable the other's account. Additionally, either user can remove the May add and edit (other) users role from the other's account. However, users cannot remove this role from their own account. If you need to change the user for this role and a second user with the role is unavailable, call the test center support line to contact Channel Quality. If Channel Quality is not available, contact VSS. |
May administer affiliated sites |
If your test center is part of a site group, this role might also be listed in User Management. For more information, see Working with other centers in your site group. |
May admit candidates and deliver exams |
Allows you to use the Delivery Manager and Admissions Manager applications. It also allows you to reprint score reports as described in Reprinting score reports through the Reprint Utility. |
May reset passwords and disable accounts |
Allows you to reset and disable user accounts. For more information, see Resetting user accounts and Disabling user accounts. Only two users at a site are allowed to have this role, and you cannot reset or disable your own account with this role. You must have another user at your site with the May reset passwords and disable accounts role or May add and edit (other) users role assist you. You are also unable to disable a user account with the May add and edit (other) users role. Only users with the May add and edit (other) users role can disable other users with that role. If you need to disable a user with this role and a second user with the role is unavailable, you must call the test center support line to contact Channel Quality. If Channel Quality is not available, contact VSS. |
May use Registration Manager |
Allows you to use the Registration Manager application to register candidates for exams at the test center. |
May edit site information using Site Manager |
Allows you to edit site information using the Site Manager application. If you do not have this role, you can view the information in Site Manager, but you cannot make changes. |
May use Updater |
Allows you to use the Start Manual Update (Updater) application to schedule or manually start a software update. For more information about this application, see Updating the software. |
