Resetting user accounts

Resetting user accounts in User Management clears out the existing security questions and password set up for a user. An email is generated by the system and sent to the user's email address associated with the account. Users must then select their security questions and set a new password in order to log in to any of the Pearson VUE applications.

The following scenarios require you to reset a user's account:

  • Users forget their password.

Users can also enable their account and reset their password by using the Account Recovery Tool or the Connect portal. For more information, see Resetting your password and enabling your account.

  • Users have already changed their password once in the past 24 hours, and they cannot remember the new password.

  • You must enable a disabled user account. For more information, see Disabling user accounts.

To reset user accounts, you must have the May add and edit (other) users or May reset passwords and disable accounts role assigned to your account. For more information, see About roles in User Management.
