Starting an exam using Delivery Manager

When the candidate is seated and ready to begin testing, enter your personal username and password to log in to Delivery Manager. After you start Delivery Manager, the application can be closed only by a test administrator with a valid username and password for the Pearson VUE applications. Candidates cannot exit Delivery Manager, access Windows, or use any other application on the system.

Do not start an exam for a candidate until the candidate enters the testing room and verifies their name, the exam name, and the exam number as described in step 4 in this procedure.

If your test center is a PVTC Select that is set up with Cloud Control Technology, you must follow additional steps to open Delivery Manager in the virtual environment before you can start exams. Follow the instructions in Opening Delivery Manager at PVTC Selects in appendix D first before following the instructions below.

Follow these steps to start a candidate's exam:

  1. If the Delivery Manager – Login window is not already visible onscreen, double-click the Delivery Manager icon on the Windows desktop.

  2. Type your username and password for the testing system applications, and click Login.

The Appointment Selection window appears. The window displays the exam appointments scheduled for the current day. For more information about using this window and its calendar, see Using the Appointment Selection window.

If a message or window related to asset binding appears, see Workstation asset binding.

  1. Compare the name on the candidate's primary ID to the list of names in the Appointment Selection window, and select the candidate's name from the list.

Always be careful to select the correct candidate and exam in the Appointment Selection window before you start the exam. It is not unusual to have two candidates with similar names on the same day, and it is critical that every candidate takes the correct exam.

Do not allow the candidate to choose their own name from the list.

Details about the candidate appear in the Candidate Information section.

  1. Verify the information listed in the in the Appointment Selection window. Follow these steps:

  1. Quietly ask the candidate to confirm their name and the exam they are scheduled to take.

Example: "You are Mary Jones, and you will be taking the Medical Technologist exam. Is that correct?"

  1. Compare the photograph on the candidate's primary ID to the photograph in the Appointment Selection window.

Refer to the table below for instructions:

  1. After confirming that you selected the correct candidate and exam, click Start to launch the exam.

  2. If a message about accommodations appears, either grant or rescind the accommodations as necessary, and then click OK.

For more information, see Granting or rescinding accommodations.

  1. When the initial screen in the exam appears, allow the candidate to control the workstation.

Many exam sponsors require candidates to accept the terms of a non-disclosure agreement (NDA) before they can start an exam. The NDA is presented on the screen before the exam or at the very beginning of the exam. If a candidate does not agree to the terms of the NDA, the candidate cannot continue with the exam.

Some NDAs are timed. If the exam has a timed NDA, inform the candidate of this so that they do not exceed the time limit.
