Site visitor security

This sub-section is only applicable at PVTC Selects. For more information about the differences between a PVTC and PVTC Select, see About the test center network.

The only people permitted in the admissions area or testing room are test center personnel, candidates, and authorized site visitors. Be sure to follow the instructions on the Site Visitor Log Sheet when there is an authorized site visitor at your test center.

The following table lists the different types of authorized site visitors and their authorization requirements. Follow these guidelines for handling authorized visitors:

Visitor type

Authorization requirement

Assistive personnel for candidates with accommodations

  • Assistive personnel must have a government-issued ID with a photo and signature. For more information, see Checking in assistive personnel.
  • Assistive personnel do not need a letter of authorization, but some must bring alternative documentation (such as an Assistive Personnel Attendance Record). For more information, see Checking in assistive personnel.
  • Assistive personnel must sign the Site Visitor Log Sheet. For more information, see Signing visitors in and out.

Visitors authorized by your organization

These types of visitors include but are not limited to coworkers, maintenance vendors, property management personnel, law enforcement, and emergency personnel. Follow your organization's approved procedures for handling these visitors.

Unless it is an emergency situation, Pearson VUE strongly recommends requesting a photo ID from these visitors and having them sign the Site Visitor Log Sheet. For more information, see Signing visitors in and out.

Official visitors from Pearson VUE or an exam sponsor

Occasionally, a representative from Pearson VUE or an exam sponsor may visit your test center. Generally, these visits are arranged only with the knowledge and consent of your test center.

  • These visitors must have a government-issued ID with a photo and signature (or two IDs, one with a photo and one with a signature).
  • These visitors must have a signed letter of authorization. Verify that the signature on the letter is that of an authorized signer. For more information, see Handling the letter of authorization and Authorized signatures.
  • These visitors must sign the Site Visitor Log Sheet. For more information, see Signing visitors in and out.

To maintain a secure, distraction-free, and professional testing environment, do not allow other types of visitors in the test center on days when testing is in progress.

Scheduled candidates always have priority over visitors. However, you should still monitor visitors and ensure they never do the following:

  • Impede or interrupt the candidate admission or testing process.

  • View any personal information or admissions data that a candidate provides.

  • Ask questions of, distract, or otherwise interact with candidates.
