Troubleshoot USB devices

Problems with a single USB device can cause problems with all other USB devices connected to the same workstation. If you experience problems with the signature device, the admissions camera, palm vein device, or the scanner, follow these steps to isolate the problem:

  1. If you are not using a USB hub, make sure you have configured your USB connections as outlined in Recommended USB configuration without USB hub topic.
  2. If you are using a USB hub, turn OFF the power to the USB hub. Then turn it back on and try using the problem device again.
  3. If the device still is not working, unplug the USB hub cable from the administration workstation. Try plugging the problem device directly into a USB port on the workstation.

If the device works, the problem is with the USB hub. You must purchase a new USB hub if your hub fails.

  1. If the device still is not working, try reinstalling the software. Refer to the software installation sections in this guide.
