Assign Local Security Policy rights - server scenario

You must add the VUEService user to the Log on as a service, Allow log on locally, and Act as part of the operating system user rights.

  1. On the file Server, open the Administrative Tools.
  2. Click in the Search field (Cortana) on the Windows Task bar.

  3. Type Admin in the Search field.
  4. Locate Administrative Tools in the list and click the link.
  5. Double-click Local Security Policy.

  6. The Local Security Settings dialog box appears. Expand the Local Policies folder in the left pane, and then click the User Rights Assignment folder.

  7. In the right pane, double-click the Act as part of the operating system policy.
  8. The Act as part of the operating system dialog box appears. Click the Add User or Group button.

  9. The Select Users or Groups dialog box appears. You must ensure that you are pointing to the local workstation. Click the Locations button.

  10. The very first location in the list is the local workstation. Make sure the first location is selected and click OK.

  11. Click the Advanced button in the Select Users or Groups dialog box.
  12. Click the Find Now button. The list of built-in users appears.

  13. Click the VUEService account or the account you created in step 3 in Create account and assign administrator permissions topic. Click OK.
  14. Your computer is listed. Click OK to close the Select Users or Groups dialog box.

  15. The service name appears in the list. Click OK to close the Act as part of the operating system Properties dialog box.

  16. Repeat steps through 3 through 11, for the Log on as a service policy and Allow log on locally policy.

This adds the Log on as a service and Allow log on locally policies to the VUEService account (or the account you created). This also pertains to the domain account.

  1. Close the Local Security Settings dialog box.
  2. Close the Administrative Tools dialog box.
