Procedure for handling IDs from sanctioned countries

Never scan an ID from a U.S. sanctioned country with the DIA device. If you do, you must call the test center support line. For more information on the DIA process, see Appendix E, Completing DIA in Admissions Manager.

Currently, candidates can present IDs from any country (including U.S. sanctioned countries) unless their exam sponsor does not allow it. If an exam sponsor does not allow IDs from U.S. sanctioned countries, this information is always documented in the exam sponsor's client reference.

Follow these steps if a candidate presents a primary or secondary ID from a U.S. sanctioned country that the exam sponsor prohibits:

  1. Explain to the candidate that the identification was issued in a country that is prohibited by the client and that you cannot continue the admissions process without seeing additional government-issued documentation. The additional documentation must prove that the candidate's primary residence is in the U.S. or another non-sanctioned country.

Acceptable forms of such documentation are:

  • Passport

  • National (or European) identification card

  • Permanent resident card or permanent resident visa

  • Certificate of naturalization or citizenship

  • U.S. green card (alien registration receipt card)

  • Driver's license

  • Student visa

  • Work visa

  • Employment authorization papers

If you are not sure whether the documentation provided by the candidate meets the previous criteria, call the test center support line to contact a program coordinator. The program coordinator can advise whether the documentation is sufficient to admit the candidate.

  1. Based on whether the candidate can provide valid supplemental documentation, admit or turn away the candidate.

  • If admitting the candidate:

Complete the admissions process and create a case for documentation purposes.

  • If turning the candidate away:

Advise the candidate that they need to provide Pearson VUE with such proof before they can test in the future.

  1. If the candidate has questions, advise them to contact Pearson VUE through one of the following methods:

  • U.S. or Canada toll free: 1-800-359-7755 ext. 3918

  • International: +1-952-681-3918

  • Email: pearsonvuecontracts@pearson.com

  1. Create a case immediately, selecting these options:
