About disabilities and accommodations
Sometimes candidates have a disability or medical condition and require extra time, special aids, or someone to assist them during the exam. These appointment modifications are referred to as "accommodations" or "reasonable adjustments." Accommodations are granted in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act or similar laws specific to your country.
All accommodations must be pre-approved by Pearson VUE’s accommodations team or the exam sponsor. For more information about requesting accommodations and scheduling an exam with accommodations, candidates can visit the Pearson VUE website (https://www.pearsonvue.com/us/en/test-takers/accommodations.html).
Interacting with candidates who have disabilities
-
Candidates who have disabilities are expected to move around independently within the test center or be approved to have a Personal Care Assistant (PCA) aid with navigation. Test administrators should not touch candidates or their assistive devices at any time.
-
For candidates who are blind, test administrators can read the rules agreement out loud. Test administrators can also verbally describe the admission steps and the equipment they will be using.
-
For candidates who are hearing impaired, please print and share the Handout for Hearing-Impaired Candidates. This document is available in the Resources application in the Connect portal.
