Note: This table lists the rules agreements for each test center type. ISC2 might not authorize all of the test center types to deliver its exams.

IDENTIFICATION

Identification Requirements

Primary & Secondary required; do not seat candidates for an exam unless they provide both forms of valid ID.

Note: Please refer to the Japanese translation of this document for ID requirements for candidates testing in Japan.

Primary ID

The primary ID must be original (not a photocopy or digital ID) and valid (unexpired). It must also have a photo and signature. However, you can accept a primary ID without a signature if both of the following statements are true:

  1. The ID is government issued. 

  2. The secondary ID has a signature.

Acceptable Primary IDs

Acceptable primary IDs include the following examples:

  1. Government issued driver's license or identification card

  2. U.S. Department of State driver’s license

  3. U.S. learner's permit (card only with photo and signature)

  4. National/state/country Identification card

  5. Passport

  6. Military ID

  7. Military ID for spouses and dependents

  8. Alien registration card (green card; permanent resident visa)

  9. Government issued local language ID (plastic card with photo and signature)

Note: If candidates testing in India present an Aadhaar ID, refer to Acceptable forms of ID in the policies and procedures guide for additional requirements.

  1. Employee ID

  2. School ID

  3. Credit card

Secondary ID

The secondary ID must be original (not a photocopy or digital ID) and valid (unexpired). It must also have signature, but you can accept a secondary ID without a signature if both of the following statements are true:

  1. The ID is government issued. 

  2. The primary ID has a signature.

Acceptable Secondary IDs

Acceptable secondary IDs include the following examples:

  1. U.S. Social Security card

  2. Debit/ATM card

  3. Credit card

  4. Any form of ID on the Primary ID list

ID Exceptions for Minors/Students

(Under 18 Years of Age)

This policy pertains to all minors/students (including those who can meet the standard ID requirements):

  1. The minor candidate must present one form of valid ID that includes their name and a photo.

Note: For candidates, a school ID is an acceptable form of primary ID.

  1. A parent or guardian must accompany the minor candidate to the test center.

  2. The parent or guardian must present a valid, government-issued primary ID with a photo and signature.

  3. The parent or guardian must provide their signature next to the minor’s signature on the Minor-Guardian Log Sheet to verify the minor candidate’s identity. For more information, see the Minor-Guardian Log Sheet, which is available in the Resources application in the Connect portal.

NAME-MATCHING GUIDELINES

Follow the standard name-matching guidelines.

DEMOGRAPHIC CHANGES

Not permitted; candidates must contact ISC2, the call center, or use their web accounts to update their demographic information.

Note: If candidates want to update their phone number or email address, they can contact the call center or use their web account. If they want to update any other information, they must contact ISC2.

ADMISSIONS DATA

Digital signature, palm vein, photograph

Note: Collected only at test centers that have the necessary admissions equipment to capture the data.

ADMISSIONS DATA WAIVERS

Candidates must have prior approval from ISC2 to waive any admissions data. If a candidate requests an admissions data waiver and has not received prior approval, inform the candidate that this is not permitted. If the candidate refuses to provide the admissions data, turn the candidate away. Create a case, selecting Exam delivery, Candidate error or misconduct, and Candidate refused to follow proper procedures.

LATE ARRIVALS

15 minutes; create a case, selecting Admissions/Check-in and Candidate was late. In the case, state whether the candidate was permitted to test.

Note: Please make all attempts to seat a late candidate whenever possible.

Non-Disclosure Agreement

3 minutes (kick-out)

  1. Inform candidates that they must accept the NDA within the allotted time (3 minutes) to take their exam.

  2. If the NDA times out, do not contact VSS for a restart. Candidates who time out must leave the test center. If candidates unintentionally time out of the NDA, they may contact ISC2 to request consideration for rescheduling the exam. 

  3. If a candidate does not accept the terms of the NDA, an NDA Refusal Report will print out. Provide this to the candidate upon check out.

Item Review

Item review is not permitted. Once an answer is finalized, it cannot be reviewed or changed.

Results

Official: Yes; candidates receive official results at the test center.

Printout: Yes; candidates receive a score report.

Note: The pass and fail score reports contain different data and instructions. As part of the ISC2 exam quality assurance process, some candidates receive their official results four to six weeks after taking the exam.

Web-based score: No

Follow the standard policy for candidate misconduct.

ADMINISTRATOR RESTRICTIONS

Test administrators are not permitted to take ISC2 exams.

EXAM INFORMATION

Language Toggle

Some exams are available in multiple languages. These exams have a toggle that allows the candidate to see the item in the chosen language or English. For example, a Japanese language exam will display the item in Japanese, and the toggle will show the same item in English. Candidates who choose the English language exam will only see items in English.

REGISTRATION AND SCHEDULING

Registration Methods

ISC2 candidates can register and schedule by:

  1. Visiting the client website (https://www.isc2.org/Register-for-Exam).

  2. Calling the ISC2 registration number at the call center.

Candidates can phone the call center at 1-877-863-0386 (toll free) Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM Central Standard Time.

Refer to the candidate website for a list of regional phone numbers.

Note: Registration and scheduling are not available through test centers.

Registration Information

  1. All payments for exam fees are handled through Pearson VUE.

  2. Pearson VUE may not change any information on the Customers screen tabs in Registration Manager. If candidates need to change any information, they must contact ISC2 before coming to take the exam. ISC2 will make the changes and send an updated record to Pearson VUE.

Note: If candidates want to update their phone number or email address, they can contact the call center or use their web account. If they want to update any other information, they must contact ISC2.

  1. Candidates need to request accommodations from ISC2, as noted in the "Accommodations" section. The Pearson VUE Accommodations Team will schedule the appointments and make the necessary arrangements.

  2. All ISC2 exams should be scheduled at least 24 hours in advance. However, if a candidate arrives at your center and wants to take the exam that day, you can contact the call center for the candidate and have the candidate schedule an appointment through a call center agent. If the candidate is eligible to take an exam, and an appointment time is available at your center, the call center agent will schedule the appointment. After you run RMA and the exam is marked Deliverable on the Admissions Manager Schedule screen, you can check in the candidate as you normally would.

Rescheduling and Canceling

ISC2 candidates must reschedule and cancel exam appointments at least 24 hours before the appointment via the candidate website or the call center. Appointments must be rescheduled within the authorized exam delivery period. Some registrations with accommodations must be rescheduled or canceled through the call center.

CC Exam

No reschedule and cancellation fees.

All Other Exams

ISC2 exam reschedule and cancellation fees are as follows:

  1. Reschedule: 50 USD (or local currency equivalent)

  2. Cancellation: 100 USD (or local currency equivalent)

Note: ISC2 candidates who cancel an appointment at least 24 hours in advance may be eligible for a partial refund (i.e., the exam fee minus the cancellation fee).

RETAKE REQUIREMENTS

  1. Candidates may take the same exam up to four times within a 12-month period.

  2. After failing an exam, candidates must wait a certain number of days before they can attempt it again. The wait time increases with each failed attempt:

    1. 30 calendar days after the first attempt

    2. 60 calendar days after the second attempt

    3. 90 calendar days after the third and all subsequent attempts

ACCOMMODATIONS

Candidates must submit requests for accommodations to the client, and all requests must be approved before the exam appointment. Pearson VUE cannot approve accommodations.

Client accommodations are never rescindable at the test center through Delivery Manager.

Never manually extend the exam time for extra time accommodations.

ENDING AN EXAM

Follow the standard policy for ending an exam.
