Conflicts of interest
As an employee, you represent our workplace and need to be aware of potential conflicts that affect our exam sponsors, our company, and ethical standards as an overall workforce.
What does this mean to Pearson VUE employees?
The following examples are conflicts of interest that may arise in a test center. If you are engaged in or have witnessed any similar behavior or have any questions about conflicts of interest, contact your regional test center manager or Human Resources.
As a test center employee:
-
You or someone in your family (your friends) has benefited from the knowledge you gain as a test administrator.
-
You have shared exam questions or processes with someone outside of the Pearson VUE organization.
-
You have gained additional income to help a candidate pass an exam.
-
You have been working for another testing company or a business or organization associated with the work of Pearson VUE.
-
You are currently teaching a preparation class or are currently involved in a class that involves topics similar in content to those of exam sponsors.
-
You are aware that someone has improperly granted candidate eligibility under the direction of the exam sponsor, accessed internal exam sponsor websites, or assisted candidates through the registration process.
-
You have noticed your coworker using Pearson VUE office equipment to promote personal business goals or personal hobbies with Pearson VUE customers and clients.
-
You have removed or copied candidate information or exam content or used confidential information for your own personal use at work or outside of work.
-
You have taken an exam sponsored by a Pearson VUE client within 90 days of working as a TA, even if you take the exam outside of the Pearson VUE testing centers.
-
You are a board member for a Pearson VUE exam sponsor.
-
You have approached a candidate for the purpose of developing a personal relationship.
-
You have another position where you would create, update, review, change, or have access to exam questions.
Pearson VUE is in the business of administering proprietary, secure exams for its exam sponsors. Providing for the security of the exam items, ensuring fairness in the testing process, and maintaining the highest levels of integrity are of the utmost importance to both Pearson VUE and its exam sponsors.
It is essential that you read, understand, and follow all security policies established by Pearson VUE and its exam sponsors and avoid any appearance of impropriety. See the Maintaining Security chapter for more information about security at your test center.
If your career goals likely require taking an exam that is administered by Pearson VUE, you need to notify your regional test center manager before you attempt to register for an exam. The following section outlines the escalation process for the Pearson VUE field staff. However, please remember that you may also use the Code of Conduct to report issues regarding conflicts of interest.
Also be aware that failure to follow the policies and procedures in this guide may result in criminal liability, civil liability, and disciplinary action up to and including termination of employment.
